Just getting into predator hunting for the first time and wondering which model would be good to start with? Is the X24 that much better than the Hellcat Pro?

Welcome aboard

My suggestion is starting out would be the FP Prowler at under $200, put the rest of the money in gas and time in the field. I could spend the rest of my days with just a dozen sounds and the simpler the caller the better I like it.

Like most things in predator hunting you need to believe in your equipment. If you think the higher end caller will produce better than the less expensive caller you will blame the less expensive caller instead of other things that might be wrong.

Buy what you want, they all call predators.

I just went switched from a Hellcat Pro to a X-24 MFK edition recently and I am very pleased with the X-24. I did like the Hellcat Pro also but the X-24 is a bit louder and the remote has a few more usable buttons and other features I like and am still getting used to.the main reason I made the switch when I did is my son was looking for a call and my hunting partner had the X-24 MFK edition with like 300 additional MFK, Tony Tebbe and Bustin fur sounds on it and it was less than 6 months old and he offered me a price that was WAY to good to pass up. Bottom line is they are both good calls it all depends on how much volume you really need for your area and how much you want to spend.
Lucky Duck also makes a pretty good call also I don't have any personal experience with them but know friends that have them and they are happy with them.

i'm still using the foxpro patriot, still calls them in. when i upgrade it will be for the hellcat pro. i hunt at night so i wont need the decoy. i like the compact size and it has foxbang.

IMO if you are a night hunter the extra volume of the x24 really isn't needed. It's amazing at how far a call will travel whenever the rest of the world is asleep.
