Went out yesterday a couple hours before dark.
1st place i went to, the snow didn't look that deep, yeah it was, promptly got stuck just off the road, had some kind folks from across the road help get me out, thank goodness for nice people.
Went to my next spot, out in the boonies, parked on side of road, walked out and set up, called with nothing showing or talking, this spot the landowner has been getting pics of them..
I had another spot across the road that I've had vocals at, but according to my weather app the wind would have been wrong for it.
After packing up from the other stand i checked the wind, it had switched and would make for a crosswind set up, with how this property was laid out it would have been risky, but with a good idea of where they would have to come from, i figured it would work.
Fog had rolled in and the humidity was about 90% on top of that. I was using the new atn x celsior which is a day/night optic so i was concerned with the fog effecting the i.r. once it got dark.
Started calling with some distress with no action, switched to some Tony Tebbe breeding sounds and they fired up where they were last time. Gave them some time, the switched to distress, within a few minutes i had a pair come out of nowhere and be within a couple yards of the foxpro fusion, dumped the 1st one, second one ran out into the field, so i dumped that one.
(At this point it was starting to get dark and i had the scope in night mode, but with the snow on the ground i did not need the illuminator)
Switched up sounds to a territorial fight sound and in a minute or 2 had third one come out, it worked it's way too where #2 laid and was sniffing it when i shot, and missed, #3 ran out further into the field and stopped, i sent another round and dropped it in its tracks.
Close shot was about 30-40 yards, long shot was around 230.
