Flaig Ace on a 98 Mauser

I recently purchased a Flaig Ace .243 on a 98 Mauser action. It has seen better days but wasn't bad for the price. It was probably a very nice rifle in its day.
The problem I'm having is scope mounts. After I got it home I noticed that the rear holes were drilled crooked. I thought no problem, I'll order the leupold mounts with the windage adjustments. Received them and they don't fit. The hole spacing on the rifle is a little too wide. The rear measures around .520-.525. Its hard to tell exactly. The front ones seem fine.
It doesn't have the stripper clip lip but does have the thumb cut on the side.
I read the warne site about the different mounts which I don't think the rifle is drilled for any of them. The front holes are .860 rear are about .525. Hole spacing between the front rear and rear front is approximately 4.175.
Does anyone have any idea what mounts I need? I really don't want to put much money in it so don't want to take it to a smith if possible.
Any help would be appreciated

If it were mine, I would get it repaired correctly and be done with it. If I understand, there may only be one hole to repair and that shouldn't be to costly. It will be worth it in the long run. I was a maintenance man to long. I hate taking short cuts. They come back and bite you in the ass.

Welding is not necessary, especially on something like an old 98. In 30 plus years of gunsmithing I have seen this a few times, just solder a screw in place and redrill and tap. If you are set on not taking it to a gunsmith depending how bad just drill out the hole of the mount a little larger, epoxy in place including screw and hole. I know this really sounds Mickey mouse but sometimes some guns are just not worth my time but to help out a financially strapped customer I have done some weird things and gotten away with it

you might get an EGW mount SK-47026 undrilled. Course you're left with match drilling your holes, OR use a 3 hole mount and negate the 4th hole. Probably easiest to just take it to a Smith and have it done right IMO
