Expectations

I know a lot of people are running short barrels with a suppressor. With a 55 gr bullet in a 22-250, 18” barrel surpressed, what is a realistic muzzle velocity? I’m hoping for 3400fps. Am I being optimistic?
Thx

I would bet you could still get 3500 fps depending on the load. Seems like you lose about 30 fps per inch, so if you are running 3700 fps with a 24” barrel you should get at least 3500 fps.

I'm running 2 different 18" 22-250s both shooting winchester white box 45gr loads but have never cronod either. Next time I go to the range I'll have to check them out.

For reference, I'm shooting a 22x47 Lapua with 52 Bergers at 3800 in an 18" Brux.

I have a TC Encore with a MGM 21” barrel. I’m getting 3500 fps using varget

Thank you for the reply’s. Not long ago, I would have NEVER thought of a 22-250 without at least a 24 inch barrel. Now I can’t see a rifle without a suppressor. Things change. One thing that haven’t changed is my faith in a lightweight bullet at high velocity for call in coyotes.
