Dry streak broken

Got out the other morning. Drove a little farther than normal. Found a nice looking spot to hide the truck. As I'm getting gear out of the truck I heard a coyote or my ears were playing tricks on me. The wild burros replied and I knew that it really was a coyote that I heard. I get my gear together and head for a saddle on a ridge to my south.
Started with some mouse squeaks just in case some thing was close by. After about 5 minutes I started my best dying rabbit.
Some how in all that open country this coyote managed to come all the way in without being seen. First time I got eyes on her, she was running past about 25 yards in front of me. I maybe should have barked or given the death kiss but I just kept trying to get cross hairs on her. Finally I couldn't turn any farther and lost sight of her.
Damn what do I do now? Keep calling and call her back or another coyote in?
Earlier this year I had the same thing happen and when I got up and turned around I got busted.
I couldn't help it, I had to look! I turn around and get up on one knee. Can't see well enough. Get up on both feet but hunched over trying to keep cover with the Grease wood bush I sat up in front of.
Coyote now had the sun in my eyes. Couldn't see much but the outline of the rocks on top of the hill. Then I see the black silhouette of a dog standing on top of some rocks. I have the cross hairs on the coyote some what steady in this half bent over squating position, but there are branches between us. I had to make a split second decision to take the shot I was given. After the shot I didn't see anything. Most likely hit some branches and deflected my shot. Walked up the hill without a lot of confidence. To my surprise she was laying right there where I had last seen her.
I get off work in 5 hours. Think I'll go see if I can do it again this morning.

Great picture and story.

Congratulations!

It seems like every time I find a calling stand and think I will be able to see them coming from a long ways out. I end up first seeing the coyote at under 50 yards away!:)
