We can hunt them year round but I have my own self imposed season.  I generally start around September, sometimes in August and end it up in March.  There are multiple reasons I do this.  First of all, and my main reason is that I don’t like the idea of shooting them with pups in the den.  And second, probably sounds like a selfish reason, but our coyote population isn’t as large as in some places, so killing them in the summer months and destroying pups means that my hunting could be very slow for a while.  Third, since I bait hunt and stay in my shack, it gets hot as an oven in the summer, making it almost unbearable.


This is what I do.  Different strokes for different folks.
