Deer vs Fox

Ive been deer hunting for close to forty years,I harvested a buck and a doe this season and it was nice but.
I started pred hunting last late December and since then its almost all I can think about.I took a Red fox this weekend off hand at 175 yds and it was 10 times the rush. Hard to believe a 12 lb. critter can make your heart beat that fast.Ive got it real bad.

I know what you mean. I have gotten 1 deer so far and can still go for a buck until Dec. 31, but now that predator hunting is starting to get good I don't know what to do. Hopefully once I get laid off, both!! :)

i know what you are talking about.i get 8 doe perments on my plase and cant wait to get them all so i can start predator hunting.like to eat the deer but love hunting the predators.

Seems to be a common ailment. When I'm hunting big game I can hardly keep my mind on my business. Thinking about what a great stand I could make here, looking for coyote tracks, etc. And if Wiley happens to cross my path while I'm chasing something bigger he's going to get busted....unless I have a visual on whatever I'm after. No exceptions, ever.

Call 'em in closer. Your heat beat goes up the closer they get!!

Good for you. I'm going to get started afer muzzle loader season.

Yea I would like them closer,I should have stayed on stand another 10 min.As it was he was comming to me but saw me get up and bolted. They can realy haul frieght.
Glad he stoped to look back.
Thanks.

I can agree 100% with you it is by far the most addicting thing that I have ever tried. I found myself the past 2 years thinking of how many yotes I may have been able to call in during hte fruitless days of big game hunting. This years elk season we had elk all around us and never got a shot archey hunting. But I couldn't wait for the heat to get a little to warm to call the elk in cause the rut hadn't really kicked in during the first week. As soon as the calling stopped for elk and they would not respond it was back to the camper and grab the foxpro for some real fun. It is highly addictive and if I could find a way to do it for a living it would already be a done deal. Good luck with the addiction.

I use to think that bowhunting for deer was next to having sex and this year I went deer hunting for two hours and that was it!! I'd rather shoot a coyote than any animal I know of.

I used to spend 3-5 evenings a week in tree with my bow,Letting small bucks go,waiting for the monster before filling my buck tag, taking a couple of Does for table fare.
This year all I wanted to do was tag out,and get back to scouting for coyote and fox.Developing and testing loads ect.Hopefully in a few years I have pred hunting down a little better and maybe start hunting them with the bow.As I have more than I care to admit invested in bow hunting equiptment.lol.
