Cutting edge bullets 32gr .224

Howdy,
I came across The CEB website a while back and saw that they make a 32gr copper bullet in the 22 caliber. I bought some to try out of my 22-250. I loaded some, working from 35 to 39 grains of Varget. 36grs gave the best accuracy @1/2" exactly at 100 yards. I'm going to call tomorrow and try and shoot a coyote with one to write back with how well at least the first one goes. I'm thinking this little 32 grainer would make a good light bullet that I won't have to worry as to if I hit the shoulder or not. Wish me luck

Good luck Matt, albeit I think you may be a little on the light side at 32 grains. Let us know how it works out for ya.

Yes! I would also agree that it limits the potential range of the 22-250 and wouldn't do well in high winds. Speaking of high winds, I called today and made 5 different stands. No luck. The winds were gusting up to almost 40mph. I'll try again next weekend!

A coyote is one tuff customer and it does take foot pounds of energy to kill them. I've seen many a coyote hobble away from being shot with light bullets (40 grain or less). Coyotes just seem to "give up the ghost" with 55 Gr. Bullets and heavier. Remember,..Velocity kills but foot pound of energy is a MF.

I can understand your point! I would agree that foot pounds do the real damage. I'm gonna test this 32 just because of its monolithic design, one would only assume deeper penetration than their lead counterparts. But only a real live test will tell! Thanks for the input

My favorite bullet I've shot so far for coyotes is the controlled chaos fromlehigh. 45gr solid brass that's as long as a 55gr vmax. They shoot dang good out of my little Remington bolt gun.

What twist do you run the Lehigh's through? The were starting to keyhole at 100 yards from my 12 twist 22-250
I am loading for a 12 twist Douglas barrel, 22-250. Started with 62 gr. Lehigh CC's, they key holed, I went to same bullet, 55gr. They did the same. I shot some Hornady loaded 35 gr. and they did well. So I am now going to try the 45 gr, and i do have some 32. grain to try.
