crazy grouse

Anyone ever seen this behaviour in ruffed grouse, lately while deer hunting in a treestand a ruffed grouse kept hanging around my stand then started flying up and landing on a branch right by me, it did this all afternoon then when I left the stand it followed me out to where I parked my 4 wheeler about 200yrds away then followed me by flying along beside the 4 wheeler.
This happened to two of my buddies the same day and again this weekend this grouse actually flew up and landed on my buddies crossbow.
I have hunted roughed grouse here in Ohio,Penn and Michigan for over 40 years and never had this happen

That's crazy and My dad had one that hung around while he was cutting up some fallen trees, but that was a few years ago.

Never that crazy but I have had what they call dusky grouse here(blue grouse) follow me on my 4 wheeler down the trail for a couple hundred yards .I think the rumble of the exhaust got him going

I've seen them do dome really stupid things near paved roads but never back in the woods.One saw me coming down the road from a good 50yds away and walked right out under my tires.Like deer they seem to go brain dead near paved roads waiting until you're right on top of them and crossing at the worst possible time.

You never know what might happen each time you step foot in the woods, but that is really out there! I haven't even seen a grouse in at least 20 years.

On a related note, twice this year my brother had a big woodpecker land on him and start pecking away!
