Coyote last night

Howling last night 25 minutes of battling barking back and forth couldn’t get him to come out into my field so I tried the silent treatment and he couldn’t stand it so we had to come in and investigate. That was a mistake.

Yes sir… Sometimes less, or nothing at all is just the ticket! Well played.
I totally agree with you when when they won’t commit to come in, but respond to all your calling, I figured I would just stop. It was cool to watch him. He came in totally quiet sneaking I was using mouth calls. He was getting mad when I would mimic him and and cutting him off that’s how I get a lot of my Coyotes

I was calling one morning and had a coyote respond with a challenge from what I estimated to be over a mile away (Blue blob, lower left hand corner of map). We carried on the argument for 15 minutes or so and he wasn't budging so decided to move a bit closer (from o in upper right hand corner of map, parking the jeep at *and walking south a ways where I set up (@ the blue dot facing south). resumed argument and he replied. He started to close the distance this time. This continued for another 10 to 15 minutes until he stopped just across the heavy strip of brush to the west of the two track where I was set up. We were still arguing back and forth when a Navy Skyhawk fighter from Kingsville Naval Air Base flew very low from the north and directly above the strip of brush separating the two of us. Must have scared the coyote as much as it startled me, as he suddenly went silent, as did I.
I sat there in silence for another 10 minutes, thinking very unkind thoughts about the pilot of that aircraft, thankfully w/my rifle still sitting on the sticks pointing south down the two track when the coyote ran across the roadway and I managed a shot just before he entered the brush on the east side of the road. Shot was low but center punched his heart and trailing him the 10-15 yards in the heavy brush was not difficult at all.

Awesome glad you got him it’s all ways so satisfying to get worked up battling coyotes that are more wary than others or smarter then others I think that’s why I like it so much. You never know what they’re gonna do and you have to figure it out congratulations on a coyote well earned
