Combo guns w/pic and range report

I'm an avid combo gun hunter, the set trigger on my Bernardelli 12ga/5.6x50R Mag took a dump and it looks like awhile to fix it. So I've been looking at simpler combo gun and ran a ross an awesome deal on a Valmet 212 12ga/222 Rem. I'm a big fan of the 222 Rem and have killed a lot of fox and Coyotes with it. I just got it out of rifle prison today. Rummaging around in my ring box I found a set of Vintage Sako rings, early Valmets milled tapered Sako bases on the top of the barrels and an old Leupold VariX ll 1-4x20 scope is unoccupied so it goes back to work on the Valmet.

Coming up. I have some good loads for my Vixen so I'll give them a try. I already have a good 1 1/4 oz NP BB load for the 12ga barrel. I can get away with this light predator load as I have the rifle barrel to reach out beyond 40 yards.

Just back from the range. I think load development is done, I don't think I can improve on the load for the Vixen.

Now I just have to shorten the stock, I didn't want to do it if it didn't shoot.

I did fire a fox and cat load I loaded for an AZ hunt. 1 1/4 oz NP#2s and had the pattern centered over the aiming point of the rifle at 50 yards, so it is well regulated.

That looks great! I had a Valmet 412, double-trigger once, which I picked up after somebody made me a crazy offer for the Marrochi 12/222 I'd had before.

Have some fun and good luck with it!

Of that dont do it, nothing will. Didnt realize there was an older valmet combo and it has double triggers....i prefer that personally. Nice outcome as usual Erich!
