Christmas Eve Hog

My younger son and I were putting together a gaming desk for the youngest when this hog showed up on camera.
Once we finally got it done and in the room I looked again and he was still there.
I put my son on the SFAR with the AGM Rattler and used my new Taipan V2 19-384 scanner to record.
The wind was changing constantly every time I stopped to check it and I figured we’d made it as close as we could without spooking him and I asked if he had a shot. He said just up the butt. I told him to center it and send it when he was ready.
What I love about shooting suppressed is hearing hits and misses. First shot connected, second shot was a definite miss, and third shot dropped him.
It was a fun time seeing how it was my son’s first time on a thermal.

Heck no! Half the time the buzzards wont even touch them, lol.
If you can get some young sows or shoats 75# or less they’re pretty good, but definitely NO boars.

Could that first shot be called a Georgia enema?

Haha! We’d gotten as close as I dared and that wind couldn’t make up its mind so I just said center it and send it. He was only off about an inch from a “clean” entry. That’s one reason I shoot the caliber I shoot is just incase I don’t have the ideal shot, lol. Before we got to him I asked where the last shot was and he said shoulder or a tad behind it. He didn’t lie…perfect shoulder shot that anchored him.

I shot a coyote once with a 30gr Hornady Vmax 22wmr going straight away. Perfect bullseye, he ran about 45 yds and laid down. I approached as he struggled to get going again and he just could not. Coup de Grace with my Buckmark 22lr. I looked long and hard for entry/exit opening and only realized impact point after opening him up.

Second shot definitely hit the tree.

I skimmed 2 sows a couple of weeks ago. 150# and 100# and they taste great. Made 52# of pan sausage and the rest whole loan and steaks. Best I have had in a while. Good and fat.
