Checking Zero

I hunted the 1st half of the season with my AR in 22 DTI, then switched over to to the AR in 6x6.8 up till now.

I figured it was time to give my 22-204 some love, so I took the Iray off & mounted it on the bolt gun.

I had sighted it in last year & killed a couple with it before quitting for the year, so I wanted to do a quick zero check.

Set the target at 100 & shot a 3 shot group, then moved to 200 for 3 more.

I generally use a bigger square for a 200 aiming point, but I hadn't planned on shooting further, but was wondering if I was too high at 100.

So the
+ pretty much obliterated the square on 6X.

I forgot my spotting scope, so I was more than pleased with the results when I checked the target....looks ready !!

So what tape are you guys using to sight in your thermal in the day time I have been using a small hand warmer but that tape looks easier thanks.

I use Duck brand chrome duct tape, easy to cut to any size with your scissors after you spritz them with silicon spray.
I also cut little pieces to paste over the holes to keep using the same targets.

I've tried alot of different things but now I cut a handwarmer in half and tape it closed. The foil tape was blooming huge for me for some reason. Half a handwarmer is just about perfect. Tape it to drywall and it won't bloom at all, but cardboard works ok too.

To add, if using the reflective tape, you need to angle your target back a few degrees towards the sky.
