Wrapped up are late season deer tag quick so wanted to get back after some fur. So on Sunday I load up the pup and we start checking some areas. I finally find this area with great sign and I haven't called in awhile. We walk out to this field, grass was little tall but I was going to call anyways. Start my progression through distresses. Soon as I do I can hear shotguns blasting all around. Thought well this is a bust. Right as I was getting ready to get my stuff. My dog takes off, coyote 20 yards in front of me. They end up at 250 yards out. My dog starts coming back. Then the second coyote pairs up with the first one. Then the action is on! They are chasing back and forth. My dog splits them up, giving me a chance to shoot. Coyote down, call switches to coyote cry’s. Instantly 3rd coyote to my left start barking at my dog. I switch to barks also, that coyote circles behind and sneaks on my dog. Quickly I turn and take a shot. MISS. Call again switch to cries, here comes coyote 4 hauling ass from the right. Holds tight at 200 barking at my dog. At this point I’m shaking so bad no way could I make that shot. That coyote falls back to 400 and keeps doing the same thing, with no intention of coming in with my dog. So I crawl out 100 yards to the sage. Get reset, switched over to pound town. Here she comes, like she never heard a call. My dog gets her stopped, lights out!!!
