We set up in a pasture that borders a creek with a steep wooded bluff on one side. I howled and a pack answered from the woods on the bluff. I waited a few minutes and howled again and they answered but no closer. A few minutes later I howled again but they did not answer. I hoped that maybe they were coming but we never saw them. A few minutes later I howled and again no answer. I switched to a yip pair and they answered again, this time they sounded closer. In a couple of minutes we saw 2 up in the woods across the creek but they would not cross. I switched to Table scraps and in a minute or two I saw one running out across the field but away from us. He stopped and I counted down and we double tapped him, DRT. My buddy ranged it, 225 yds. A poke for me but I felt good about the shot.
