Looking to build an ar10 in .243
From what I see it’s best to stick with the same manufacturer for most of the parts??
Can anyone that’s built one point me in the right direction to get started?
Thanks!!

I've built a few and made it easy on myself by using Aero upper, lower and handguard. AR 10 and 15 drop in triggers are the same if you don't go mil spec. There as easy as building a AR15 if you don't mix parts.

Armorally.com has aero precision builder sets(matched receiver set along with handguard) pretty reasonable right now.. every body has different opinions on triggers but I've found palmetto state armory runs a sale on a 2-2.5lb cmc drop in trigger for 100$ pretty often and i can't complain any on the trigger, I recommend also adding an adjustable gas block along with a barrel manufacturer that's known for accuracy.. my choice is proof research but they come with a price tag

Barrell recommendations?
How much you want to spend? Top of the line would be a Bartlein from Craddock Precision, but they ain't cheap.
Black Hole Weaponry are considerably more affordable, and IME, almost as good. I recently rebarreled a 243 AR10 for a buddy with a 20" BHW, and it is no joke a .5 rifle with 90 ELDX.

I just built my first upper using a X caliber in 7mm 08. I put the first 8 break in shots through it using 2 different powders with 2 different bullets and they made a half inch hole with the 8 shots. It's deer season so I can't stretch it out to a thousand yet but X caliber is worth looking at.

Mine are the discontinued DPMS g2, and are alot lighter and handier. I've been eyeballing the bca stuff but I know I wouldn't like the weight. I would probably give the Ruger sfar a try in 6.5 cm if I was looking right now. I'm not sure how well they shoot and don't know anyone with one but they sure are smaller.
