I own a TNC335R. So far so good but have only had it for a few weeks. Digital image is good, range finder is accurate, thermal works well even compared to my Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 pro scanner which is a 640. Zeroing was easy. Has held zero so far. I really like the ballistic calculator functionality and it has worked really well in my testing and hunting.
The negatives: Auto-shot recording (or whatever they call it does not work) Maybe this can be fixed with a firmware update, but so far it hasn't worked when sighting in the optics or on 6 different successful hunts. I was disappointed with that but need to remember to hit the record button manually from now on. Another challenge is focusing the thermal optic. It is tough to hold the gun and get my hand just right to reach in tight to the center thermal tube to focus things. The digital tube is easy with the focusing reached basically from the top, The central location of the thermal makes it tough to get in there and turn it. The focus works but with so many tubes (thermal, digital, IR illuminator) it is just tough to access. When things are slow it isn't a problem. When things are moving fast it is not ideal but I don't really know how they can improve that with the layout of all the tubes.
The only other observation I have at this point is that all the different options and buttons take some time to get acclimated to. Some of my other scopes are simpler to use. The TNC335R requires long presses vs short presses and all the various buttons at night are a challenge, especially if it is cold and you have anything on your hands other than maybe thin gloves. All the buttons work as described, they are just kind of small and tough to press accurately when wearing thicker gloves. The side buttons that control the range finder and swapping IR/Digital are easier because there are only 2 of them, but even they are small.
Overall I am pleasantly surprised with the optic. Way cheaper than my Iray scopes, pulsar scopes and scanners, Sig scope, and Nvision scope. All of those don't have digital lenses, but the quality of the thermal is decent despite the 384 resolution. I have an Iray RH25 that is also 384 and the DNT thermal image is better.
I'll post updates if I think of anything else as I use it more. If this thing lasts then I will consider the purchase a win. If it tanks early I will be disappointed. Only time will tell but the TNC335r has started on a generally positive note.
