Here in Wyoming the rattlesnakes do not get that big. However, when we lived in Austin I used to hunt a lot in Bee County, about 45 miles North of Corpus Christi. Your photos reminded me exactly how big they get in S Texas. I killed a number of them while quail hunting as I did not want one hitting my dog. When they don't have to hole up and ball up all winter long, they have a chance to get that big.
