you guys are probably gonna kick me outa here before i get thiss AR built LOL......but i am trying to learn LOL
are there any diffrences in the Post Ban and Pre Ban barrels other than Pre is threaded for a can or flash hider?
was thinkin pretty hard about going to a 204 but when looking at White Oak Armament Barrels the 204s are almost double the price. so i might stick with the 223 for my first one.
the 18 and 20" barrels through them are $275 which i didnt think was tooo bad really..the 204 barrels were a little over 4 bills

and am i better off with a 1-7 twist or 1-8 twist?

Between those two,,, I'd have to opt for the 1/8... I had a 1/7 twist and never could get most of the standard bullets to shoot worth a darn, until I went to the 75gr A-Max and then to get them to fit in the magazine, I had to seat them so deep that I was almost afraid to shoot them..

It may have been that I just had a bad barrel, for semi-precision shooting (or I demand too much in the way of accuracy)...

I think the 1/8 will give you a wider range of acceptable loads..

I think I'd shop around for different barrels,,,That difference between a .223 and a .204 seems pretty extreme...

Thanks OT...any way you could give me some opinions on brands of barrels?
i think i might jsut stick with the 223 for this one. if i build another i will at least know the gun and how it all works much better so might get to do a little more then. i dont have nothing against the 223 and its pretty easy to get ammo about anywhere

Every Olympic Arms stainless barrel I ever shot was sub-MOA and the price is pretty decent.
(Once you find the right load).

And the only difference between pre- and post- is the threading.

I buy all mine with target crowns, since I never intend to run a supressor and have no use for a flash hider. Makes the rifle shorter and lighter.
