looking at getting these as a scanner for night hunting AGM observe IR laser rangefinder binoculars has anyone use them and have any good and bad with them? Would like to get some input before buying some thanks

Have you used any binoculars at night? I was wondering about them but don't think I'd like them. Late night vision show did an episode on them I think, they thought for most people who are scanning while calling, it would be too unhandy compared to a monocular. I got the impression they weren't big fans.

Maybe you know the answer to this but is the LRF the same unit they put in their Varmint scopes?

If so, I have the Varmint V2 and have been underwhelmed with the LRF in the scope at temps below 10 degrees. It just doesn’t range well in conditions below 10 degrees.

I got the scope brand new on 12/26/24 and have hunted with it about 10 times so far. Out of those times, the LRF has only worked well about 2 times. Thats my only complaint so far but has made me hesitant towards any other products of AGMs that have the LRF built in.

Not surprising that a laser diode isn't working well in single digit temps and colder.
I have other rangefinders from different manufacturers that work very well in negative temps though. If buying a unit for the LRF I’d definitely want to make sure it works well in the temps it says it’ll work.

I’m a rookie in the thermal game so I’m not sure if this is common from other thermal companies. Just my experience with the AGM so far. When I buy another scope, I’ll hopefully be able to verify the LRF works a bit better in cold temps.

That would be disappointing if the lrf was unreliable. I haven't been out below 10 I don't think, not sure if I will either lol. I'm kind of a fair weather hunter. I can tell mine throws a very tall beam, I'd like it to be more pinpoint but it works pretty well over all. Snow and fog are a no-go but that's to be expected, I'm sure rain would mess it up also but I generally don't go out in rain. Round stuff like irrigation pipe on center pivots don't reflect it well at all either.

What laser rangefinder works as well below zero F as above freezing, I need one.
I have vortex Furry AB’s that haven’t skipped a beat down to -30 f. Leupold Rx-2800 has worked down to the same -30 f. Both had sat out in the cold, strapped to chest harnesses, for a full day of calling.

Have a buddy that has the Revic BRL 10’s that have performed at -10ish.
