AGM FUZION TM35-640LRF

Anybody get their hands on one of these yet. I Previously used & loved the AGM ASP TM35-384. I pre-ordered the fuzion 2 months ago and just got a shipping notification. I loved the TM35-384 so if the fuzion is just a little better and the LRF works as described I think it's going to be a homerun. Also, curious how the 18650 Li-ION batteries are going to hold up in the tundra. This Friday night may be the real test calling for a high of -15f and low of -35f.

This is mostly Bering fan boy territory here but I own an AGM ASP TM35-384 that has been awesome, in fact there's not a ton of difference in my Bering Phenom 640.

Let's us know how you like it.

Best thing to do is discuss any and all optics, and their pros and cons. They all have them. This should be a learning place.

Amen!!

I agree, let’s keep the trolley on the tracks! Let’s celebrate that the choices for thermal imaging equipment are getting more numerous, not fight it and each other.

As end users we directly benefit immensely from the competition!

Didn't get to use this new monocular as much as I wanted last weekend but here are my first impressions.

1)Love the fact that it uses 18650 rechargeable Li-ions versus the internal rechargeable that was in my AGM ASP TM35-384. Unit comes with 2 18650's and I purchased 4 KeepPower 3400mAH (recommended by dealer) for spares. Old ASP would only last 1hr in below zero temps and based on the conditions this weekend (-15 to -33f) the fuzion will run all night on 2 or 3 -18650's (unit uses one 18650)
2) Button layout for the most part is user friendly. The rolling wheel used for zoom and toggling through the menu is touchy when using large winter gloves. Many times, I wanted to just zoom one level and it went from 2x straight to 16x. After I got the hang of it was better but still occasionally zoomed multiple levels unintentionally.
3) Don't like the how the LRF is used with the Measure button. Short press of the middle button captures image, and a long press of that button will range intended object. Constantly found myself clicking measure button like a standard rangefinder and taking pictures instead of ranging animals. Ranged deer out to 300 yards easily, one thing I didn't try yet was ranging when zoomed at higher levels. I think it will be tough to range coyotes past 300yards unless it works fine when zoomed in. Range is also displayed in Meters not yards and this cannot be changed in menu, but I was told a future firmware update will allow this to be changed to yards.
4) IMAGE QUALITY- I was not overly impressed but the jury is still out. The background image is whitewashed greatly compared to my old AGM ASP TM35-384. I've heard this from many different people using the new 640 monocular's and scopes from AGM. The image quality of animals is better but not a whole bunch. Was pleasantly surprised in the new optical and Image Fusion color palettes.
5) Unit did NOT come with an owner's manual nor was there a link provided of where to find one. Had to email dealer and AGM to get one sent out. There are a few things in the menu that I am still unsure of after reading the manual, these include
a) scene mode- jungle or recognition (used to select proper scene mode according to
environment temperature to improve the display effect)
b) trigger calibration - performs corrections as present in the FFC mode
c) FFC - flat field correction

Observations were done at -15f to -33f and 80-86% humidty

approx 1.5-2 hr run time per 18650 on -15f nights. Rolling wheel for zoom has gotten a little better but still very frustrating at times (this would not be a problem if you hunted in a warmer environment). Background image still whitewashed compared to old AGM ASP TM35-384. LRF works but not as good as i hoped but i think my hopes were set a little too high. Going to use it a season and see how I feel come march.
