I just picked up my first dedicated thermal scope. It is the AGM Clarion 640 with a selectable 2x / 3x lens. I have owned about 6 FLIR handheld monoculars in the past. This new scope is dramatically superior in terms of image clarity and detection capacity. I could easily detect cows on the hills outside my house 1300 yards away. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. It boots up fast and my next step is to get it zero'd. I liked the physical format of this scope due to the fact it is going on an AR15. I could not be happier with this purchase. My FLIR Scion is going up on ebay this morning!
Thanks to Gman757 - he helped me out quite a bit in the selection process.
I actually bought two. One I will use for spotting. The other for shooting. It is pretty amazing what you get for your money now days in thermal. I remember when lesser scopes were $10,000.
