A tough day calling coyotes in swirling winds, pictures!

Yesterday right from the start we had winds that kept changing directions. On the first two stands we had 4 coyotes that got our wind at 200 to 300 yards away.

On the fourth stand my son Wes and had shotguns and JP7mag my buddy was off to the side with his rifle. Wes and I could not see very far past about 25 yards on the ridge we were sitting on.

Way down the ridge about 250 yards away I saw a coyote headed our way but he went out of sight as he was headed our way so, I turned with my camera to take some pictures if the coyote did pop up close to us.

When the coyote came into view I thought I only took two pictures with my camera before it darted out of sight pretty close to Wes. Wes missed the coyote and it got away.

JP7mag did shoot a coyote with his rifle later on in the day and Wes took some drone video footage on that calling stand.

This is the picture of JP7mag and the coyote he got with his 243 Win. We didn't get any more coyotes and ended up only getting one coyote on a full day of calling coyotes on a great ranch.

This morning I checked my camera thinking that I only took 2 pictures of the coyote that ran right up on Wes and got away. I was really surprised when I found out that I actually took 9 pictures!

The only thing worse than a coyote getting away is your dad getting pictures of the coyote getting away! LOL

Glad you got em, Bob, betcha don't ever get another picture of that coyote. :ROFLMAO:

he could have thrown the shotgun at that coyote!
Did it pop up over that ridge fast?

a lot can go wrong fast when they are that close

Yes the coyote was moving pretty fast. I had seen the coyote heading up the ridge when he was about 200 yards away but he went out of sight, I was pretty sure he would pop up right in front of us and he did.

In the 3rd picture the coyote is ducking down to make a hard right hand turn right in front of my son Wes. If the coyote had turned around and gone out the way he came in, I don't think he would have got away.
