7.62x39? How fur friendly? Anybody...?

Just curious if anybody uses a 7.62x39 round for coyote hunting?? Never really heard of anybody using, theres probably a reason, lol... And if anybody does how does the fur turn out? Thanks!
I use 7.62x39 123gr Hornady sp. for deer. It leaves a nice nickel to Quarter sized exit wound probably not good for fur.

FMJ = full metal jacket, they have no business being used for hunting unless you are taking head shots.

I disagree. FMJ have no business hunting. They’re much more prone to ricochet and head shots really are not an ethical shot as head shots can take off a jaw or other cruel hits. Brain shots work, but in the real coyote hunting world, brain shots are a very “long shot”
Get an expanding bullet.

Killed a badger with mine a few weeks ago. Hit it in the chest with a Wolf 123 grain hollowpoint. That bullet didn't even come out of it. The coyote I shot with it last year didn't look so great though. But my first shot also blew its front legs off so that definitely didn't help. As far as looks go. Made shootin it again pretty easy.

I forgot, I actually shot two badgers with that same bullet. The other one I shot through both lungs. The exit wound was about the same size as the entry wound.

I grabbed the wrong magazine (FMJ 55 grain .223) for a coyote hunt one time. I had a coyote come in at 25 yards. I had to shoot him 9 times before he finally died.

That was an eye opener. FMJ .223 is not a good round for coyotes.

Badgers will take a serious amount of lead and they hate to give up their hide. It's all the fleas that make them so tough. 😉
