6 PRC

Anyone Have one ? How is recoil compare to say 243? wondering if its worth lookin into more thanks
I've built two of them, no doubt more recoil, but not excessive. Depends on the gun weight & load.

Are you familiar or know anything about a 6-284? The 6-6.5PRC has the same case capacity and is essentially a ballistic twin to the 6-284. With 6.5-284 brass becoming harder and harder to find and 6.5 PRC brass much easier to get wildcats like the 6 and 25 PRC have become increasingly more popular. The only real drawback is the 6 PRC requires a magnum bolt face but even that really isn't much of a downside.

I was a 6-284 fan too, which led me to the 6 PRC. With proper throating the PRC will easily fit a short action with a Wyatts box in a 700, whereas the 284 case really needs to be in a long action when throated for the heavies.

Regardless, I decided to get away from the hot rods and stick to my 6x47 Lapuas, they just need a few more clicks on the dial.

Wyatt's 3.00 mag box will give you plenty of room for all except the 110-115's and with those, if you have them throated to really stretch them out, you can use Wyatt's 3.100 Baney box, but, brass availability still favors the 6-6.5 PRC over anything off of the 284 case.

Barrel was a Bartein #3 spiral fluted. Surprisingly, it preferred the 108 Hornady over the 105 Bergers, at 3400.

Impressive, did you ever try something in the 80gr range. Found this all from a podcasts and velocities where very impressive. how has brass life been ?

I never tried anything other than the 105 Berger & 108 Hornady.

Hornady brass was some good stuff, but I sold the gun, so no long term test on brass life.
