I can't remember having a run like this before. It started Thursday night, right before dark I was verifying zero off my tripod with the Nocpix as I had adjusted the scope in the rings last week and zeroed off of bags. I got that done and wanted to take a longer shot using the bdc so I swung the rifle to look across the road in an open pasture and spotted a pair of coyotes half mile out. Well that's a bit too far lol so I geared up and walked out there, got set up there was still a bit of light but after a couple soft howls I had 3 looking my way from about 450 yards. Stinky Rat pulled them in through a draw and only saw 2 come out, got the first and totally whiffed on what should have been an easy double.

Friday night I picked up my hunting buddy and wanted to try 2 spots we hadn't been to all year, one was a walk in spot and actually was targeting coons with the possibility of a coyote. The first stand set up 75 yds from a tree row. Thought we'd try some coyote sounds first in case something was close. After a few minutes switched up to coon pups and shortly after had a coyote within 80 yds, my buddy got him stopped and put him down at 50 yds or so. No video, it just happened too fast.

We moved a few hundred yards to a creek bottom to try for coons again. Again, no coons but this guy showed up to coon distress. We were both on him and he was pretty close to down wind so while I was deciding if it was 230 or 330 yds, my buddy knocked him down and I finished it.

Moving on to a new place, a p-dog town very close to a big feedlot that we hadn't tried before. I stopped in a perfect location and set up, I say that because all it took was a few female howls and this pair was headed our way. I never played another peep until the first one was down.

And the follow up from my buddy's scope knocking down the second one.

We had heard a few from further east so we set up 1/4 mile away and tried again. There was a pair that started in, but went back and out of sight over the hill, probably skirted us down wind out of sight. But about that time I spotted this sorry critter coming in on a trot from the opposite direction to a breeding pair fight. Got this poor mangy runt knocked down at about 80 yds.

They're really responding well here the last couple of weeks after a pretty tough January, so I hope to keep the good times rolling next time out!

Thanks guys. Maybe someday I'll learn to string them all into one video to make it easier to watch.

I really like the image on that Nocpix. Good shooting
So far I love this scope, there's just one thing I'd change and that's the buttons on the ocular are power, recording, and ranging, and they're all in a fairly tight area and kind of hard to distinguish. That's why you see it go into standby mode in one video, I was actually trying to range. The only other issue was with the bdc seeming to change as the power was zoomed but I think that was fixed when I downloaded the latest firmware. More testing will eventually figure that out.

Curiosity got the best of me yesterday and I had to go check the range on that first video. The shorter range, 230 something, was correct. There was a small rise 100 yds behind that I was also picking up. My buddy's shot got the hind leg and my second shot went through the chest cavity.

Might not work in your situation for some reason, Russ, but I've placed a small dob of silicone in the center of a similar button so that you can distinguish between neighboring buttons by feel (without gloves).

My IRay and AGM have recording in complete opposite positions.
I have to look and make a conscious effort to remember when I grab a gun to hunt. Generally use the bolt gun for coyotes and grab the SFAR for hogs.

Sfar, how do you like it? I kind of want one in 6.5 but see pretty mixed reports. What I really want is another DPMS g2 but they are scarce, just a few on gb and I'm looking for a bargain.

I’ll be honest, after I told my guy to get me one I started reading the reviews and almost cancelled the order.
So glad I didn’t!! I bought the 16” version to have a “lightweight” semiauto .308 even with a thermal, full mag, and suppressor.
I’m not a gun maniac nor am I a competition shooter, I’m a pull the trigger and watch stuff drop kind on hunter. I’ve done nothing to this gun to this day other than run two full mags on setting 3 on the gas port, moved it to setting 1, added thermal and suppressor, sighted it in and started hunting.
Knock on wood, I ain’t had a hiccup yet, lol. I do run a bore snake after every 5-10 shots or so. Like I said, it’s mainly used as a hog gun, but performs fine for coyotes too. When my son goes I give him the option of either gun and he always chooses the SFAR and told me to go ahead and add his name to it in the will, lol.
Compared to my DPMS in .308, it feels like a toy gun in weight comparison.

Yeah the regular large frame guns are tanks, manageable, but there's a better way. The ones I have are closer to a small frame than a large frame, but the sfar takes it to a different level yet. I'm glad you're having good luck with it. I'll probably try one at some point.
