Bought 8lbs $209 415 midwest powder loading a 223 ,said to be like hodgdon 335 55 grain fmj bullet max grains 24.5 what is the minimum grain? Been loading about 5 years any idea's let me know 335 minimum says 21.4 would 20 grains work want to test 20 to 25 grains want to get fps

Hodgdon on line, load data may be one good source for starting data Along with Nosler on line load data. Then I would have to ask if you have purchased a load manual yet?

With any powder stating a bit low from max & working up will be recommended. This may go double for the Midwest surplus offerings. While you may suspect this is close to H335 & rightly so, you still need to verify, verify, verify.

Hope you have a chronograph, Can't a more useful tool to verify how the data is coming very close to H335 or, not. Get back to us on how this is working for you. Stay safe & wish you well.

I do have a chronograph, also hodgdon loading manuals lee precision and Lyman I like the one online just put in rifle or pistol what round your loading what grain bullet what brand powder wich powder and then you get all the data,pretty cool, I'll probably head out tomorrow and get my numbers retirement life's good, I'll post the chronograph results.
 
Testing the 415 powder from American reloading/Midwest powders is in.
All bullets were 55 grain 3 bullets average each grain number
20 grains 2365 fps
21 grains 2507 fps
22 grains 2660 fps
23 grains 2816 fps
24 grains 2980 fps
25 grains 3113 fps
I read another post about Midwest powders the person loaded 26.5 grains said it was perfect.
