That's because it probably is. I shot a coyote using a 55 grain V-max in a 223 doing 2860ish fps at 82 yards and it worked pretty well. The shot was in the chest and it dropped right where it stood. However, it put a pretty good l size hole on the exit side. I imagine out of a 22-250 that bullet is gonna be doing north of 3200fps? It would probably tear a pretty good hole on a fox at 100 to 200 yards. Now I'm just thinking out loud here but maybe someone who has actually done it can chime in. Good hunting.
I shot a red with my 22-250 ack imp 40 gr vmax @ 4250 and saw no apparent damage. I don't use the 250 much as we have way more fox than coyote. I like a 204 or a 223 for fox, but still get big holes at times.
