Is Savage the ONLY company producing a 17HH these days? They are the only ones shown on ammo seek.

I'm finding loaded ammo and even brass is hard to find for the lil bugger.

Anschutz ($$$) still makes one, model 1771. There are several on GunBroker. I bought one several years ago, and use it on prairie dogs. It is a 1/2” gun, easily.

Aside from a couple of .17HMR’s, haven’t had much luck with 17s. (.17 Remington and two .17 WSMs) I know people that love them, but inconsistent accuracy for me.

Had much better luck with the .22 Hornets. Have a Savage model 25 that is consistently sub MOA (@ 100) with Hornady factory 35gr max. Kinda crude, but will shoot!

I don't know about current production. I bought a CZ 527 4 or 5 years ago. I see now that they are becoming a bit harder to find. Like DJDoggin, mine is a varmint model. Absolutely love the gun and has been death on coyotes. Most everything I shoot is within 100 yards but earlier this winter I did shoot one at 180. Dropped him like a sack of spuds and swung to get on another. After shooting the other, I noticed a coyote walking off so I shot him just to realize it was the first that I had already shot. He sat down on his haunches so I hit him a third time anchoring him. I think at that distance the little bullets were just losing too much energy to anchor like they normally do at shorter ranges. Even with the range limitations, it is by far and wide my go-to. I am seriously contemplating a .17 FB build which will have a bit more of that "oomph" at longer ranges. Until then, I am content with the hornet. I am, admittedly, a sucker for the little .17's so my opinion may be biased!;)

Another option not mentioned is a TC Contender in 17 Hornet set up in carbine length. Several companies are still making barrels plus there are tons of used ones around for sale. I have a 21" 17H barrel from MGM and it is extremely accurate (maybe just a hair less than my CZ527). The one in the pic is set up with a folding stock and make a great compact packable rig.
