Coyote Massacre

Monday night we shot 11 in one stand. Yes, one stand. Ok fine, we shot 10 and then I killed 1 more as I was dragging all the carcasses into a pile.
My buddy shot the first one, then I shot then next 10 in a row.

We were hunting my buddies property, which consists of some big wooded draws amongst ag fields. It's excellent deer habitat, which also attracts the coyotes. He usually traps and snares several out of there, but since he got into thermal hunting, he's backed off of that to 'save' them for us. This was our first trip up there for the year. The first stand, we had a few come in and we shot two. It should have been a couple more, but you know how that goes.
On the second stand, I shot a double. The 'Coyote Massacre' was the third set. They just kept coming, and usually one at a time. When the smoke cleared, there were 10 on the ground, and I was almost out of ammo.
My two buddies went back to the farm to get the side by side, and I went out to gather them up and drag them into piles. As I was scanning around looking for the last couple carcasses, I spotted one on his feet. At first I thought it was maybe a wounded one that got up, but it was just late to the party. I got down prone on my bipod and lip squeaked at him. He came over the rise enough for a good shot, and I hammered him. That was #11 for the stand.
My buddies each shot one on the last stand, and we ended the night with 17.

Holy Crap.. taking that all in one set . also, good on you for taking out 10-Rounds with you when walking away from the truck .
( me ).. depending on what rifle walking out with. I normally walk off with only 5 to 8 Rounds.
.

Definitely one or ten to remember.

I normally walk out without a gun. Had to go hands on a couple time. Once bare handed and once with a knife.

SY, what part of the country are you hunting? The place is absolutely crawling with yotes. You did some awesome shooting. That 22 CM really dumps them. The fact that the one needed 3 shots shows just how tough they are.

Eastern ND.
The 10 my bro and I shot a few years back was central SD. Not exactly typical for either area, but once in a while you stumble into greatness.

Excellent! How long do you figure you were on stand? I can’t get one buddy to sit still more than 14 minutes before he wants to call it and head to the next. I will stay put if I know coyotes are out there. I have had them come in at the 45 or so minute mark before.
